Stated Supply, Rev. Laurie Hill
Rev. Laurie Hill is our pastor. She lives on Tiki Island with her husband, Rev. Steve Hill, who is partially retired. She was ordained June 24th, 1990 after her MDiv. Degree at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She also has a degree in Pastoral Counseling from Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary. Most of her career, she has been a transitional specialist, assisting with congregations who have suffered a crisis with their last pastor. She brings love, unity and healing to congregations. She has been with us, part time, since November 2023. She is actually ordained as a United Church of Christ pastor but has dual standing with the PCUSA to serve our church.
Rev. Hill was born in Rockford IL, but when she was five, her family moved to New Jersey. She met her husband, Steve, at the University of Dubuque, where she earned a BA in Elementary Education and Spanish at the same time her husband earned his M.Div. They have lived in California, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and now Texas. They have been married since November 4th, 1978. They have two grown daughters who are married with children. The eldest lives in central IL, and she has two grandsons in that family. Her youngest daughter lives in Houston and has two daughters and a son, completing her "Fabulous Five" grandchildren. She loves spending time with them. She also loves cross stitch, movies, tv, walks (esp. on the beach) and eating out.
Rev. Hill serves St. Stephens Presbyterian Church in Houston also. So, she preaches at that church at 9:00 am and joins us immediately after for our 11:00 am service. She is normally at our church on Monday and Tuesday mornings, but it's always best to call before you come.
